Schaeffler, a leading global supplier to the automotive and industrial sectors, chose LINK Design to develop the user experience of OPTIME condition monitoring system. In addition to the industrial design of OPTIME sensors, LINK’s designers carried out the user interface and visual design of the system’s mobile and control room applications.
A Design Guideline was created to help applying OPTIME design principles in future products, both physical and digital.
In addition to fast commissioning and ease of use (design drivers were easy to buy, easy to install, easy to use, easy to decide), the design of digital applications was guided by the customer’s strict visual design guidelines. In line with the Mobile First strategy, system deployment and monitoring can be done entirely using a mobile application. The developed visual design language was further transferred to the desktop software, used in control room environment.
OPTIME condition monitoring system won two Red Dot: Product Design 2021 -awards in categories Industrial Equipment and Smart Products.
